Lori Janson is a senior communications and marketing professional with more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, public relations and corporate communications in both the private and government sectors. Currently, she is Director, Destination Development at Tourism Vancouver – the marketing organization charged with promoting Vancouver as a global destination for travellers and convention delegates. As a member of the Senior Management team, Lori is responsible for leading the organization in ensuring the growth and sustainability of Metro Vancouver as an international destination. She is the “champion of the visitor experience” and ensures that Tourism Vancouver is making a substantial contribution to an increasingly positive visitor experience.
Lori is also principal of Lori Janson & Associates, specializing in strategic communications, government relations, corporate social responsibility, and community engagement. Previously, she was Director, Corporate Communications for GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. and responsible for the strategic development and management of internal and external communications, media relations, government relations, brand management, and corporate social responsibility.
Lori has been a member of the American Marketing Association since 2001. She served on the British Columbia AMA (BCAMA) Board of Directors for five years and as President in 2007-08. Lori joined the Professional Chapters Council (PCC) in 2009, co-chaired Leadership Summit in 2012 and was President of the PCC in 2013-14.
Lori holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario, along with a certificate in Business Communications and Marketing from Simon Fraser University.
