About Event

Marketer of the Year + Marketing Excellence Awards

In 1971, the Beatles broke up, a house on Cambie Street cost $17,000 (with ample street parking!) and the BCAMA Marketer of the Year Awards Gala made its premiere debut as the biggest marketing award show in British Columbia. Many iconic British Columbian brands have since graced the stage, brands you loved way back, like Woodwards and BC Tel, along with brands you love today like Nintendo, London Drugs and BC Hydro.

More than 300 guests gathered at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver on November 24, 2022 for the BCAMA 2022 Marketer of the Year Awards Gala celebrating British Columbia’s top marketers. The black-tie event, emceed by Global BC's Chief Meteorologist, Mark Madryga, marked the 50th anniversary of the gala and is the biggest marketing award show in British Columbia.

The 2022 Marketer of the Year award, recognizing the most outstanding integrated marketing strategy in the province, was handed to Destination Vancouver. The team received this honour for demonstrating marketing distinction through their agility in times of uncertainty; their collaboration with partners and the community; the breadth and creativity of their high-quality, interconnected marketing initiatives; and the outstanding results they achieved that helped inspire and rebuild Vancouver’s tourism economy. Destination Vancouver’s marketing efforts throughout the pandemic were shared during the team’s award acceptance, and the organization’s genuine pride and regard for both their team and city drew applause and emotion from the audience.

Winners of the annual Marketing Excellence Awards were also announced at the event.

These awards recognize excellence in marketing across six categories:

●   Content marketing, storytelling and/or influencer marketing: Coast Capital for Keep her on the map

●   Marketing on a shoestring: Full Circle First Nations Performance Society for Talking Stick Festival

●   Business-to-business marketing: Colliers for CRE 2022 and Beyond

●   Non-for-profit/cause marketing: CBC British Columbia for Food Bank Day

●   Branding or rebranding: Vancity for Financial force for change

●   Single integrated campaign (direct-to-consumer): TransLink for Tap in to win
