The BCAMA Board of Directors is made up of a group of industry experts who volunteer their time to make sure the association runs smoothly. BCAMA board members bring dedication and expertise to our organization, and we are so grateful for their contributions to our community and culture.

We would like to encourage BCAMA members to show their appreciation to the board throughout the year. Our association is founded on the passion and perseverance of forward-thinking people and we hope our members can continue this tradition into the future.

Executive Team

Trina Notman
Trina Notman
President

Trina is the VP of Sales & Marketing for Accent Inns and Hotel Zed where she applies her creative thinking to most areas of the business. Before that, she spent six years at Tourism Victoria most recently as CMO. Here she won BCAMA’s Marketer of the Year award for outstanding growth of the Victoria brand.

Trina also spent ten years at Inventa, an experiential advertising agency, working with clients including, Coca-Cola, Nintendo and Cadillac Fairview. Here she won Best Experiential Campaign in the World for her work with Cadillac Fairview. Prior to that, she began her career in journalism as an editor of community newspapers.

Trina holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, diplomas in print journalism and broadcast journalism as well as a certificate in Strategic Negotiations from Harvard Business School. In her free time, Trina is committed to walking her Jack Russell with her husband pretty much constantly.

Christian Westin
Christian Westin
Immediate Past President

Christian Westin is a marketing and organizational consultant, and faculty member at the Langara School of Management. He helps companies and students alike develop strategic thinking, research, and leadership skills. Passionate about providing opportunities for the next generation, he sits on the Langara Marketing Department Program Advisory Committee, heading the Experiential Learning and Careers in Marketing group. He led the effort to bring TEDx to Langara, successfully organizing a locally star-studded speaker lineup including former Vancouver mayor Sam Sullivan, Dragon’s Den success story Doug Burgoyne, and Terry McBride, CEO of YYoga and Nettwerk. Christian is excited to take over the helm of BCAMA, having held a number of previous positions in the organization, including President-Elect, Vice President, Director of Sponsorship, and Sponsorship Manager. During his upcoming presidential year, Christian will focus on further enhancing BCAMA’s organizational culture, developing programming to serve marketers in a wider range of roles and career stages, and connecting marketing with related fields, including tech, finance, HR, management, and sales.

Jacqueline Simpson

Vice President

Jacqueline Simpson is a marketing director at Destination BC where she leads the Global Marketing Programs team responsible for integrated consumer marketing activities that inspire leisure travelers to choose British Columbia for their next vacation destination.  She is proud to be part of the team that won the BCAMA’s 2018 Marketer of the Year and 2016 Content Marketing awards.

Her 28-year career includes experience in operations, guest services, sales and marketing, including 15 years in private industry (real estate management, packaging, tourism) before joining Destination BC in 2006. Her professional passions are developing marketing strategy and using data to uncover meaningful and actionable consumer insights.

Jacqueline holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science (1989) and a Master of Business Administration (2000), both from UBC.

On a personal note, Jacqueline has a sea to sky spirit and loves beachcombing (endlessly) and hiking in the alpine, and she’s an avid traveler both within BC (#explorebc) and internationally.

Director, IT

Ryan Hoye is an information technologist with the Vancouver Club. He understands the technological process in a business or operation, and helps organizations visualize their technological future and implement it to make it a reality. Ryan is focused mostly on the integration of Apple products into businesses to make them leaner and more efficient. He has experience in bringing the state of the art from ten, twenty, and sometimes thirty years ago, into the present.

Duygu (Dee) Unal - Director, Marketing Communications, BCAMA

Director, Marketing Communications

Dee works as a Marketing Consultant at MatchBox, a Vancouver based professional services company. She has over 15 years of B2B and B2C communications experience gained through living and working in global markets including EMEA and Southeast Asia. Aside from her global marketing experience and technical know-how, she excels at creating  successful business opportunities and revenue-enhancing partnerships in multicultural, competitive, and fast paced environments. Previously, Dee was the Regional Marketing Manager for Earls Restaurants responsible from the brand’s operations in USA and Eastern Canada. Her diverse industry experience includes roles such as Head of Marketing & PR and Assistant Director of Regional Marketing at Hilton Hotels Corporation.

Linda DeRuiter - Director of Digital Marketing, BCAMA

Director, Digital Marketing

Linda is a Digital Marketing Account Manager at Major Tom where she helps brands put together the best digital marketing strategy. On any given day she can be found setting up an online ad or email campaign, launching a website, optimizing content for search engines or reporting on analytics. She has almost a decade of digital marketing experience across agencies and in-house. At BCAMA, she will be leading the digital marketing strategy and execution to help build and grow BCAMA’s digital presence.

Anne DeWolfe
Director at Large

Anne is a Lecturer, and past Chair, of the Marketing Department at Langara College. She started her career in the Marketing Department at CN Rail in Toronto. After moving to Vancouver with her family, she led the UBC MBA program. Anne expanded the brand by opening new programs in downtown Vancouver and Shanghai and launching marketing campaigns in India and Russia. She also led the program’s rebranding when the Faculty was renamed the Sauder School of Business. With a lifelong interest in the Arts, Anne has been a Marketing Consultant to the Mendel Art Gallery and the Saskatchewan Arts Board. She is a proud supporter of UBC Opera. A season pass holder at Big White Ski Resort, Anne is optimistic she will earn her “100 Ski Days” pin this season!

Carre Le Page
Carre Le Page
Director, Content & Brand

Carré Le Page, an Aussie with over 15 years of marketing experience in the travel sector, is the VP of Marketing for the Corporate Division of the Flight Centre Travel Group Canada. With four brands in his current portfolio, his primary focus is to create and nurture meaningful relationships with Canadian organizations who value a superior travel experience when on the road for business.

Carré has a BA in Communications with two majors in Marketing and Film from Griffith University in Australia. With a passion for story-telling, his strength lies in building brands through engaging content to encourage emotional connections.

Working for an organization like Flight Centre, you would expect him to have the travel bug. He’s currently sitting at 44 countries with his eyes set on hitting 50 in the next few years.

Michelle Cunningham

Director, Business Development

Michelle brings over 10 years of digital experience to the board. She started her career as the first employee at Metrolyrics.com, where she played an integral part in building the brand and its online presence, eventually leading to the company’s acquisition by CBS Interactive. Michelle continued on at CBS Interactive after the acquisition spearheading advertising sales efforts in Canada for the Tech Games and Lifestyle division. Eventually, she transitioned over to Mediative, a performance marketing consulting agency as a Senior Manager of Client Development. Michelle recently took on a new role with the digital consultancy MightyHive to oversees the company’s expansion into the western region. She will be empowering brands and agencies take control of their marketing and advertising data as an expert in the programmatic space.

Virginia MacKay
Director, Education Series

Virginia MacKay is a Senior Marketing Manager at TELUS. Canadian born and raised, Virginia has spent much of her career in Australia building leading global and national brands including IKEA, Disney Interactive Studios, and realestate.com.au (Australia’s No.1 property site). Her broad marketing experience covers digital, brand strategy, marketing communications, and content. Uncovering what makes people tick is why she loves this profession. As Director of the Education Series, Virginia is focused on helping marketers at all levels of their career master core capabilities as well as gain practical tools to stay ahead of industry changes. Virginia holds a Bachelor of Science & Business from the University of Waterloo, as well as a Master of Marketing from Australia’s Curtin University. A new-comer to B.C., Virginia loves all things outdoors with her family.

Katelynn Potter

Director, Marketer of the Year

Katelynn is a consummate event specialist. Over her career, she has delivered innovative, memorable events for clients including: Rogers Communications, Bell Canada, PepsiCo and the BC Provincial Government, just to name a few. Katelynn is currently an Account Executive at Inventa, an award-winning experiential and event marketing agency based in Vancouver. Here she manages large teams, maintains collaborative client relationships and is a positive contributor to the agency culture every day.

Katelynn attended Capilano University’s Communications program and completed a number of Event Marketing courses at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Prior to her current role, she worked in tourism while living in Tofino, B.C. and in marketing for a year in London, England.

Katelynn has always had a passion for the non-profit sector, organizing multiple fundraisers for the BC Cancer Foundation and North Shore Rescue in her spare time. She is excited for this opportunity with BCAMA to highlight outstanding projects completed by her peers and to inspire other young marketers to hone their skills and advance their careers.
