POCAM X BCAMA Present Visible & Vocal: A Thought-Leadership Gathering

Date: Friday, April 24, 2026
Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Location: Rethink Vancouver, 15 West 5th Avenue, Vancouver, BC

Join us for an evening of conversations, connections, and casual vibes at the Visible and Vocal 6 – Panel and Mixer Event by BC Chapter of American Marketing Association (BCAMA) and People of Colour in Advertising and Marketing (POCAM).

This is more than a typical industry panel – It’s a space to get a candid, data-driven look at the lived experiences of BIPOC professionals and chart a collective path forward.

Why this matters

For years, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has been part of the industry conversation. But there’s still a gap between what’s said and what people actually experience.

POCAM’s Visible & Vocal study shows that:

  • 88% of BIPOC professionals feel the need to be on guard at work
  • 80% have experienced microaggressions in the past year
  • 58% have faced racial discrimination from a colleague

These aren’t isolated situations – they point to patterns across the industry.

At the same time, expectations are shifting. Professionals, clients, and audiences are paying closer attention to how brands show up, and who is behind them.

What to expect

  • A panel discussion on the results of POCAM’s 6th “Visible and Vocal” signature study – the Canadian advertising and marketing study by BIPOC professionals, for BIPOC professionals
  • Perspectives from professionals across different segments of the industry
  • The opportunity to mingle with other professionals in the advertising, marketing, and communications space interested in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and continue the conversation following the panel discussion
  • Finger food and drink tickets will be provided

Why BCAMA × POCAM

This collaboration brings together two organizations working toward the same goal: a stronger, more inclusive marketing industry.

  • POCAM leads the research and conversation around BIPOC experiences
  • BCAMA connects the broader marketing community across the province

Together, and through this event, the two organizations will facilitate dialogue to better understand what’s happening in the intersection between marketing and DEI, and what to do next.
